For Claudia - DREAMS
It happens when your eyes are heavy,
And daytime turns to night
When the sometimes harsh daylight
Turns into soft moonlight, barely
Comforting the thoughts that haunt,
That are not easily swept away
That are determined to stay
That horrify, terrify, cry, daunt
It is then that you need them badly
The small, tinkling, starlight ones
Lifting the veil, these small beacons
Of hope, carrying you gladly
Away from pain and fear to hope
And dance, mischief and laughter
Starlight, colour, warmth and after
That hopeless feeling, now you can cope
Let those fairies cover you with
Starlight dust, for happy dreams
In which Pegasus, it seems
Whinnies softly, let you sit
Between his wings, and takes you
Back to bed, white-winged hero.
And, in the soft moon glow,
You finally sleep, smiling too.
