A SPIDER
I am lying on my back, cradling my arm
Sun is shining here, making me warm
Above my head my little friend is building
A new home. Last night she had a killing
Spree, enjoying a meal of annoying flies
If they'd have voices I could hear their cries.
While you across the big pond are asleep
Tossing and turning, snoring, light or deep
My spider brings entertainment here in bed
No, I won't butcher her to death
My friends in Europe, come sit here and share
Sunlight, friendship, in my warm web where
I am the spider, but you're no prey
I have cookies, and tea, but first, let's say
I bring my spider safely outside for you?
Will that do?

*takes a big glass and a piece of stiff paper, catches the spider and takes her outside*
