DOWN

DOWN

Walked down the path down that part
Where you do not wish to go
Where no one wants to go
But still so many go

With nothing but heavy in my heart
And limbs heavy, hurt and slow
A head with cold and snow
And feet just go

But then I reached the purple flowertree
With butterflies and humming bees
Purple flowers, green leaves
Sat on my knees

And wept, and stopped and saw
How down and sweet they were
Without painful despair
Beautiful and fair

I accepted, went back and carried
One flower in my hands
Near my bed it stands
Stealing glances

For me down means despair
With beauty all around
Losing solid ground
But now I found

Warmth and colour living where
It’s unexpected, purple beauty
In my heart, calming me
Buzzing soft and lively
