LION OR MOUSE

LION OR MOUSE

"In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours."
- From "The Rains of Castamere."

I have claws, long and sharp.
They grow, I growl, stay away!
A caged animal, walking up
and down and up and down.
Don't come near, I'll tear you open.

Oh, isn't that a brave dream?
Isn't that a dream of fierce independence?
Isn't that a dream of surviving?
A dream of conquering?
Of escaping?

But the day we ran, I had no claws
I didn't roar.
I was a mouse, silent, quick
Tiptoeing close to walls
Escaping through the cracks

Bringing with me my brothers
As quick and silent as I was
And then I learned that real power
Is not in anger, hate, claws and teeth
But in survival and in love.
