DISTANCE
I like to see them from a distance.
Ships
Packed with people, some embarking
expecting, with dreams, wonder, fantasies
Others with fear, seasick, lovesick
Some leaving, going home, finding
their loved ones,
finding their destiny
Done with work, tired, going home
I like to watch, observe
Cold, rain, heat, it doesn't matter
Watching them, swarming ants
busybodies, chatterboxes
All thinking they are belonging
So important
As if their movements are so unique
As if they leave a trail
no one did before.
I don't belong anywhere
Observing is as close as I can get
Judging them is as far as I can get
If I am perfectly honest
I'd give my life to think I was unique
To be a chatterbox, to interfere
with someone else as if it is
Perfectly normal
I don't belong anywhere
