In The End Love Wins

In The End Love Wins

Inspired by a poem of Michael Coy, one of my friends.

In cold December snow I sniff the air
My nose raised high, my paws ready to run
The Pack nervously pacing, I feel their
Fidgety eager fury, I feel none

We neared the border days ago, to hunt
The ones who hunted us so long ago
To make them face our anger, to confront
Them, before we deal the final blow

We are with eight, once small and grey as mice
Our fur a razzled coat of tatters, fringed
Now proud and strong, not wild, but free and wise
With white mane, healthy, not unhinged

They thought themselves invincible too long
Their attitude so carefree as a child's
But soon they'll hear the howling of our song
Unleashed revenge, uncivilized and wild

Too long we were repressed, in cages small
Our spirit almost broken, but we fled
Our spirit lives, unbroken, we stand tall
We live again, our future lies ahead

Tonight we will reclaim what once was ours
The time is here, it's not about revenge
But justice, we're counting down the hours
The outcome a relief, 't will be immense

No matter where they run we'll find their trail
And in the end love wins, their hate will fail
