YOU CAN CRY
I make you smile
And although it may not be today
Or tomorrow
It may take a while
But I'll make you smile
Being sick sucks
Tell me about it
Waking up mornings
With so much pain
Trying to sit up in vain
While your stomach turns
And churns
I sit here by you
And read, my hands
Hold the book
And I look
And say
You can cry, you may
No one should tell you to be strong
Because it takes so long
Because you're afraid
Because we're made
To believe we should be brave
But you don't feel safe
They want you to be that example
But you can not
For you are a person
And not a robot
So curl up now, and smile
And cry, because for a while
I am here
I understand, now
Sleep, and while you do
I keep
An eye on you.
