SAFETY
Last night I was dreaming
Dreaming
Only it was no dream
I was so awake, I walked to the mirror
And saw myself
A girl
A long white nightgown
A small child
A doll in my arm
A ribbon in my hair
Last night I was dreaming
Dreaming
Only it was no dream
There was yelling
And screaming
And hurt
And my heart was racing
And I hid away in the closet
With my doll in my arms
Like I always do
But he found me anyway
Last night I was dreaming
Dreaming
Only it was no dream
Before I went to bed
I put a chair against the door
And felt safe
And took my doll in my arms
And rolled into the blankets
And slept
But he got in anyway
Last night I was dreaming
Dreaming
Only it was no dream
I walked to the mirror
And looked for my doll
But it is gone
Gone
He took it
When he was here
So I sit here and watch myself
Only I am not me
Not me
I am not here anymore
Last night I was dreaming
Dreaming
And I keep dreaming
I live here now
In my castle
There are children here
Just like me
And my doll is here
There is screaming far away
But I am not here
Not here
Anymore
