DANCE
“For anyone who has ever been afraid to be true to who you are…
Be proud to be you.”
- Matthew Richardson (Last sentence of the dance attached to the poem)
***
The day will come that I will dance with you
It doesn’t really matter how
My love.
Our dance evolves so slow and warm and light
We live and shine in your bright eyes
My love.
we're dancing for ourselves, our love, our rights
our independency, we'll waltz
My love.
So much to overcome but it is worth the fight
To have you so, so near
My love.
To overcome the fear, we are so absolutely right,
Admit it to ourselves, admit it loud and clear
My love.
The day will come that I will dance with you
Will have you so, so near
My love.
When everything comes tumbling down around
Together we still dance, upright
My love.
We’ll overcome the fear, we are so absolutely right,
For us we live, for us we’ll always fight
My love.
I close you in my arms and close my burning eyes
And you will hold me to you, hold me tight
My love.
My body is so small, and in your arms so slight
But I’ll guide you through the night
My love.
This dance is sensually slow, it takes us step by step
To where our future lives
My love.
The day will come that I will dance with you
I know I will, and so do you
My love.
